The rain it raineth every day, it sure seems like

The Rain it Raineth Every Day

The Rain it Raineth Every Day
When that I was and a little tiny boy
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
A foolish thing was but a toy,
For the rain it raineth every day.

But when I came to man's estate,
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
'Gainst knaves and thieves men shut their gate,
For the rain it raineth every day.

But when I came, alas, to wive,
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
By swaggering could I never thrive,
For the rain it raineth every day.

But when I came unto my beds,
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
With toss-pots still 'had drunken heads,
For the rain it raineth every day.

A great while ago the world began,
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
But that's all one, our play is done,
And we'll strive to please you every day.

  1. I can't help it. I hear Ben Kingsley singing this. I don't think "Shakespeare" when I read this - I think "Ghandi"! :)

  2. Way back in the days right after the earth cooled, I worked on a community theater production of the play.

I loved the song then, and I love it now.

Bwahahaha on Ghandi singing it! When I think of Ben Kingsley now, I waffle between thinking of the scarrrry character he played in Sexy Beast, or the ghastly fact that he was in the movie The Thunderbirds. Oh Ben, how could you?

Did you know Ben's birth name was Krishna Pandit Bhanji?
